What Are Connections?
A connection is an authenticated link between Invent and an external service. When you add an Action or Channel that requires authentication, you create a connection. Examples:- Google Calendar
- Gmail
- Airtable
- Slack
Viewing Connections
Go to Settings → Connections (useinvent.com/o/settings/connections) to see all your organization’s connections. Each connection shows:- Service name: The platform or integration
- Status: Active or Inactive
- Connection details: Account information or label you provided
Managing Connections
For each connection, you can:Edit
Update connection settings or rename the connection. Click Edit to modify:- Connection name (optional label)
- Account details (varies by service)

Reconnect
If a connection stops working (expired token, revoked access, changed password), click Reconnect to re-authenticate.Disconnect
Remove the connection entirely. Click the disconnect icon (🔌) and confirm. Warning: Disconnecting stops all actions and channels using this connection. They’ll stop working until you reconnect.Where Connections Are Used
Connections are used in two places:Assistant Actions
When you add an Action to an assistant, you choose which connection to use. Multiple actions can share the same connection. Example: Your “Book Appointment” and “Check Availability” actions both use the same Google Calendar connection. Learn more about Actions →Assistant Channels
Channels like WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger require connections to your accounts on those platforms. Learn more about Channels →Connection Status
Connections can have different statuses:- Active: Working correctly and ready to use
- Inactive: Disconnected or authentication expired (may show an error indicator)
Security
Connections are stored securely and encrypted. Invent only requests the minimum permissions needed for each integration. Best practices:- Review connections regularly: Remove connections you’re no longer using
- Use dedicated accounts: Consider using service accounts instead of personal accounts for business integrations
- Monitor access: Check that connections only have the permissions they need
- Reconnect when prompted: If a service requests re-authentication, do it promptly
